At the heart of the Gabriel Fauré, Anniversary Recital will be Fauré's exquisite song cycle "La Bonne chanson," which comprises nine songs set to the poetry of Verlaine.
Additionally, the audience will hear Fauré's "L'horizon chimérique," and songs of composers influenced by Fauré's art performed by Richard Williams.
Richard Williams' musical journey began with a remarkable victory at the Alberta Provincial Music Festival in 1981, followed by a prestigious second place at the National Festival in Toronto.
Throughout his illustrious career, Williams has graced stages of Europe such as Frankfurt, Geneva, London, Milan, and Paris. His talent extends beyond performance, as he has also made significant contributions to vocal education, holding esteemed positions such as Head of Vocal Studies at the International School of Geneva.
In 2007, Williams co-founded Opera Pro Cantanti (Opera for the Singers), a company dedicated to showcasing the operatic repertoire through regular performances at various stages in Vancouver.
